A former officer in Indian Navy, Vipul Rawal reinvented himself as an author and screenwriter and in the late 1990s, and has since penned a number of memorable screenplays. He is perhaps best familiar to the filmgoers for his work in acclaimed Bollywood movies like Iqbal (2005) and Rustom (2016), the latter of which earned him a Stardust Award nomination for Best Story.
In 2018, Vipul co-wrote the Shahid Kapoor starrer Batti Gul Meter Chalu, which was directed by Shree Narayan Singh. The screenwriter also made his directorial debut in the same year with the thriller Tony (2018), which followed the story of four psychology students who are unwittingly lured into the machinations of a dreaded serial killer. His 2018 release includes Batti Gul Meter Chalu, directed by Shree Narayan Singh.
