William Wyler was a four time Academy award winning American director, producer and screenwriter. He was born in Mulhouse, Alsace into a Jewish family. William shifted to America to pursue a career in the film industry. He made his debut with the American short film Crook Buster (1925). William went on to direct films like Desert Dust (1927), The Good Fairy (1935), Mrs. Miniver(1942) and The Best Years of our Lives (1946) for which he won him his first two Acdemy award. William was also the director of critically acclaimed films like Roman Holiday (1953), Friendly Persuasion (1956), Ben- Hur (1959) and The Collector (1965). William has been one of American cinema`s most celebrated and respected directors of all time. During his long and illustrious career, he was the recipient of several laurels including the Irving G.Thalberg Memorial Academy award. William passed away on July 27th, 1981. His film Roman Holiday is now going to be re-released in theatres.
