A Chinese actor and model, Ziyi Zhang bagged her first major role in The Road Home (1999) and gained international recognition for her role in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000). She did not limit her talents to the Chinese film industry and branched out to the west where she featured in Rush Hour 2 (2001), Hero (2002), and House of Flying Daggers (2004). It was in the year 2005, that Zhang rose to fame with Memoirs of a Geisha. The film based on a book of the same name earned her, the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role, and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role. It also earned her a nomination in the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress - Motion Picture Drama. Following this she was associated with The Grandmaster (2013), for which she won 12 different Best Actress awards and became the most awarded actress for a single film. As of 2019, Zhang is associated with the Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
