Throughout his life as a liftman, he has seen walking in and out of the lift and has closely seen their emotions, feelings, and thoughts. While he couldn't relate with a few, he would build a strong connection with some. The movie uses the lift as a metaphor for Manjunath's life, shedding light on the ups and downs that he has faced.
