Climate change is serious, but that does not mean the conversation has to be solemn. The 1.5 Degree Celsius Comedy Night brings climate science, everyday realities, sharp humour, and community voices together for an evening that is equal parts laugh-out-loud and think-it-through.
Featuring curated stand-up sets by the Goan Comedy Cartel, the night will find the funny and occasionally frustrating side of life on a warming planet. From Why is it this hot? moments and unpredictable weather to plastic-filled beaches, water worries, rising bills, and the strange things we do to feel environmentally responsible, the comedy will be relatable, thoughtful, and rooted in real climate conversations.
And the mic will not belong only to the comedians.
Between and after the sets, the stage opens up to you. Bring a short joke, a story, a poem, a climate observation, a rant about the heat, a memory of a changing monsoon, or simply a perspective you have been waiting to share. No climate-science degree required just curiosity, kindness, and a willingness to join the conversation.
We will wrap up with a relaxed, facilitated discussion that connects the laughs back to the science: what is changing, why it matters locally, and what realistic individual and collective action can look like. You may arrive for the comedy, but leave with fresh questions, new connections, and perhaps a few ideas worth acting on.
