A Celebration of 60 Years of Nadigar Thilagam Sivaji Ganesans Saraswathi Sabatham & Motor Sundaram Pillai - Two Classics, One Legend.
Sixty years ago, in 1966, Nadigar Thilagam Sivaji Ganesan gave Tamil cinema two unforgettable masterpieces - Motor Sundaram Pillai and Saraswathi Sabatham. Two vastly different worlds. Two unforgettable stories. But one extraordinary actor whose screen presence, voice, emotion and versatility made both films timeless. Y.Gee.Mahendra & Abbas Cultural presents a nostalgic celebration of these two cinematic landmarks, bringing alive the magic of 1966 for audiences of today.
The evening will be presented by the much-loved actor and raconteur Y. G. Mahendra, who will take audiences behind the scenes with fascinating anecdotes, memories and lesser-known stories surrounding these landmark films and the legendary artistes who brought them to life.
Through carefully selected clippings of iconic scenes, memorable dialogues and live renditions of the evergreen songs, the audience will revisit the grandeur, humour, emotion and music of an unforgettable era of Tamil cinema.
From the mythological splendour and philosophical drama of Saraswathi Sabatham to the family emotions, humour and human relationships of Motor Sundaram Pillai, the evening will celebrate the extraordinary range of Sivaji Ganesan as an actor.
Saraswathi Sabatham, directed by A. P. Nagarajan, brought together Sivaji Ganesan with legends such as Gemini Ganesan, Savitri, Padmini, Devika and K. R. Vijaya, with music by K. V. Mahadevan.
Motor Sundaram Pillai, directed by S. S. Balan and produced by S. S. Vasans Gemini Studios, showcased Sivaji in a very different avatar, alongside Sowcar Janaki, Ravichandran and Jayalalithaa, with music by M.S.Viswanathan.
With Y. G. Mahendras engaging narration, rare anecdotes, memorable film sequences and a live musical presentation by Kanagadhara Band, this will be more than a tribute.
It will be a journey back to an era when cinema was an experience, songs became memories, dialogues became legends and Sivaji Ganesan was simply incomparable.
