The NCPA Library, in collaboration with Usawa, presents Galaxies on the Page, a poetry writing workshop with Rochelle Potkar. This session is an invitation to pause, observe closely and find poetry in the small, often unnoticed moments of everyday life. Through gentle guidance, participants will explore Japanese forms like haiku and haibun - where prose and poetry come together beautifully. The workshop will also open conversations around free verse, helping participants discover their own rhythm and voice. This workshop is for beginners as well as experienced writers.
Rochelle Potkar is a Mumbai-based, award-winning poet, author, playwright and screenwriter. Her poetry collections, including Paper Asylum and Coins in Rivers, have been widely recognised, while her fiction - Bombay Hangovers, The D'Costa Family and The Fabric Goddesses - showcases her sharp, distinctive voice. An alumna of the prestigious International Writing Program at the University of Iowa and a Charles Wallace Fellow at the University of Stirling, she has been regularly invited as a creative writing mentor at Iowa's Summer Institute and Between the Lines programme. Potkar also mentors writers and teaches poetry at the Himalayan Writing Retreat. Her work has been translated into several international languages. She was conferred an honorary Doctorate in Literature by former President Ram Nath Kovind.
