About The Event
Vocalists Suhavi Kalsi and Aagaaz celebrate the women who shaped ghazal poetry and music in a concert blending soulful melodies, storytelling, and contemporary arrangements.
When women claimed their place in the world of poetry and music, they gave voice to love, longing and the deepest shades of human emotion. ‘Women of Ghazal’ celebrates these pioneers who made their mark in a traditionally male-dominated art form and paved the way for generations to follow.
Led by Delhi-based vocalist Suhavi Kalsi, Aagaaz brings their work to the stage through a curated musical experience that explores the context and emotions behind the verses. Trained in Hindustani classical music, Suhavi’s musical interests span ghazal, Punjabi folk, and classical fusion. She is joined by tabla player Ishan Sharma, keyboardist Harsh Gadkari, bassist Aradhya Khurana, guitarist Rahul Bhandari, and violinist Aman Warkhedkar, bringing together a versatile ensemble to reinterpret these songs for contemporary audiences.
Moving beyond the conventions of a traditional mehfil , the concert invites audiences to look beyond the melodies to the meaning, origins and continuing relevance of ghazals. It is both a celebration of the women who helped shape the genre and an exploration of why their words still resonate today.
