"Aawaj Aur Ehsaas" is a premium musical tribute honouring the historic artistic convergence of India’s Nightingale, Lata Mangeshkar, and the Tragedy Queen of Indian Cinema, Meena Kumari.
Integrating the profound emotional legacy of Meena Kumari with the timeless vocal purity of Lata Mangeshkar transforms Aawaj aur Ehsaas from a general concert into an elite, deeply moving cinematic experience. This specialised production proposal is designed to capture that unique synergy. It will also explore the incredible chemistry supported by an acoustic orchestra with the poignant biographical storytelling.
Meena Kumari was an accomplished Urdu poetess (under the pen name Naaz) who lived and breathed poetry. Lata Mangeshkar possessed an unmatched understanding of Shayari and Urdu pronunciation, ensuring every syllable matched Meena's on-screen emotional vulnerability. This concert will also celebrate the brilliant arrangements of musical geniuses who framed this pairing, including Naushad, Shankar-Jaikishan, Khayyam, Madan Mohan, and Ghulam Mohammed.
This concert is designed and directed by music arranger Kamlesh Bhadkamkar, featuring Sharayu Date and Shraddha Vaidya, and conducted by Guruta Datar.
