
President Droupadi Murmu will inaugurate the first edition of the eight-day Bharatiya Kala Mahotsav, an event showcasing the rich tapestry of the country’s heritage, at Rashtrapati Nilayam, Bolaram on September 28.
The Mahotsav, between September 29 and October 6, will showcase the art, culture, crafts, and culinary diversity of the North-Eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura.
More than 300 artists and artisans from these states will be participating in the event at the Main Lawns of Rastrapati Nilayam, which is the winter home of the President. Along with the eight state pavilions, there will be a live demonstration area where artisans showcase their handicraft making in real-time, a Geographical Indicator (G.I.) product zone, and immersive digital selfie area, a technology-enabled youth-engagement zone and a food-court serving north-eastern delicacies.
Being anchored by the Ministry of Development of the North-East Region with support from the Ministry of Culture, it will have also performances of dance forms and folk music.
Entry is free and visitors are allowed between 10 am and 8 pm.
