Title: When Light Makes Twins: The Story of Singlet Fission
Speaker: Aisworika Mohanty, TIFR
Abstract: Most solar cells are stuck with a one-photon-one-electron rule. But certain organic molecules rewrite this rulebook. In a quantum trick called “singlet fission”, one photon can split a higher-energy excited state into two lower-energy states, giving us two electrons from one photon instead of just one. At this session we discuss the amazing science behind this and how this may result in more efficient solar cells.
