Beat Route: Where Beat of the Earth Meets Pulse of the Future
A groundbreaking collaborative venture between Roysten Abel, a foremost avant-garde director, and Ranjit Barot, one of India's finest drummers and rhythm composers, Beat Route celebrates rhythm in its purest form.
Composed and presented by Ranjit Barot, the production brings together 10 master percussionists from Kerala and Rajasthan, featuring traditional instruments such as the mizhavu, chenda, elathalam, dhol, nagada, kartal, bapang, morchang and cheep.
Blending traditional rhythms with the contemporary soundscape of electronic music and masterful drumming, the performance highlights the contrast between Rajasthan's golden deserts and vivid sunsets and Kerala's lush greenery and backwaters. It captures the essence of India's musical heritage, from earthy folk sounds to resonant temple bells, creating a symphony that transcends boundaries of time and culture.
The experience extends beyond a traditional music performance through captivating visuals crafted by award-winning filmmaker and visual artist Kabir Singh Chowdhry, emphasising the deep connection between music, musicians, tradition and the earth.
