Led by French multi-instrumentalist and composer Mathias Duplessy, this dreamy violin concert blends traditional tunes from around the world with vibrant bluegrass energy.
In this extraordinary symphony, you’ll be serenaded by a confluence of cultural melodies from different fiddles around the world, along with Duplessy’s trusty travelling guitar. A talented milieu of musicians comes together to heighten the ambience, including Sabir Sultan Khan (sarangi), Aliocha Regnad (violin), Zied Zauori (Tunisian violin), Mandaakhai Daansuren (Mongolian morin khuur & throat singing).
As a self-taught musical maverick, Mathias Duplessy is one of most renowned multi-instrumentalists in France. Sabir Sultan Khan is an acclaimed sarangi player and the son of Indian Classical maestro Ustad Sultan Khan. Bandmate Guo Gan is a grandmaster of the erhu, renowned for his performances in China and across the world. While Zied Zouari is a leading Tunisian violinist in contemporary Arabic music, Mandaakh Daansuren is a celebrated Mongolian master of morin khuur and throat singing. Together, they evokes a transcendental soundscape, their diverse backgrounds adding to the fusion group’s distinct, colourful persona. Beyond their superhit recordings, ‘Duplessy & The Violins of the World’ has mesmerised audiences across Australia, China, Europe, Japan, and the United States with their live performances for over 15 years.
