When eastern India's first standup comedy group was founded in 2012, practically every comedian in the country was an English comic. It's the opposite now, with just about everyone performing in Hindi if not Bengali or other regional languages. Yet although there are some great performers in these languages, English comedy is still the real thing (like English pantomime, pubs, plum pudding and pornography). It still exists, and you're welcome to laugh away an evening listening to it.
