About The Event
Kathika is delighted to host a special edition of Baithak Pe Charcha with eminent photographer Mr. Pawan Mahatta, whose remarkable body of work has documented the many faces of Delhi over several decades. Set against the intimate,heritage-rich backdrop of Kathika Museum Haveli, this interactive baithak, "Framing a Disappearing Delhi: The Disappearing Stories, Faces and Traditions of a Living City" will explore the city's evolving identity through the lens of one of India's most distinguished photographers.
Through evocative photographs, compelling stories and personal reflections from behind the camera, Pawan Mahatta will take audiences on a visual journey through the disappearing neighbourhoods, forgotten traditions, vibrant communities and everyday moments that have shaped Delhi's cultural fabric. As the city continues to transform, this conversation will reflect on the importance of preserving not only its monuments, but also its intangible heritage, the people, customs and lived experiences that give Delhi its unique character. This promises to be an enriching evening of photography, storytelling and conversation, offering a rare opportunity to see the city through the eyes of someone who has spent a lifetime documenting its ever-changing soul.
