Lavani is a genre of music popular in Maharashtra. It is a combination of traditional songs and dance, particularly performed to the beats of the dholki, a percussion instrument. It is popular for its powerful and energetic rhythm.
This art form has contributed substantially to the development of Marathi folk theatre. In Maharashtra and in southern Madhya Pradesh, it is performed by female performers wearing nine-yard-long sarees, popularly known as the Navvari saree.
This is a unique, entertaining show with a blend of Lavani and Western dance, where popular Marathi as well as Hindi hit songs will be performed by well-known dancers with live singing and orchestra.
