About The Event

Experience a vibrant musical journey across India’s rich folk traditions and emotions, brought to life through song, storytelling, and movement by acclaimed performers and sisters, Antara and Ankita Nandy.

An ode to India’s lively landscape, art, and culture, ‘Lok Rang: The Many Colours of India’ is a musical celebration of the country’s rich folk traditions, guided by the evocative journey of the Navrasa—the nine emotions. Presented by the acclaimed Nandy Sisters, Antara and Ankita, the performance weaves together song, storytelling, and movement, traversing regions and languages to reveal emotions that are both deeply rooted in tradition and universally resonant.

Structured around the rasas, each segment illuminates how India’s geography shapes its musical language. The tenderness of Shringar (love) emerges through the lilting melodies of Kashmiri Rouf and Assamese love songs, while Veer (valour) resounds in the heroic ballads of Rajasthan and the stirring Marathi Powada. Karuna (longing) is captured in the contemplative strains of Baul music and the plaintive river songs of Bhatiyali, before the exuberant rhythms of Bihu and Garba burst forth to embody Hasya (joy). The evening culminates in Bhakti (devotion), with Varkari Abhangs and Kabir bhajans transforming music into a collective act of faith and connection.

Hailing from Assam, Antara and Ankita Nandy are celebrated for their ability to blend rigorous classical training with contemporary sensibility. Antara, a distinguished playback singer mentored by Ustaad Rashid Khan and affiliated with the ITC Sangeet Research Academy, has collaborated with luminaries including A.R. Rahman, Salim–Sulaiman, and Udit Narayan. Ankita, recognised for her expressive stagecraft and vocal range, began her journey with iconic television title tracks and has since graced diverse platforms across India.

The duo rose to prominence through their “Balcony Concert” series, whose signature harmonies and inventive folk interpretations captivated millions online. With Lok Rang, the Nandy Sisters bring this intimate spirit to the stage, inviting audiences to experience India’s living folk traditions in a dazzling evening that flows effortlessly between region, rhythm, and feeling, a true celebration of unity in diversity.
