NAVARASAMBIKE
A Bharatanatyam Dance Musical by Sri Kalakshi School of Dance
Inspired by a verse from Soundarya Lahari that celebrates the Divine Mother, whose mere glance evokes the nine fundamental emotions, Acharya Smt. Ranjana Vinodkumar presents "NAVARASAMBIKE" - a spectacular Bharatanatyam dance musical celebrating the many facets of Jaganmatha Parvathi Devi.
The story unfolds through a delightful conversation between "Nandi Deva and Lord Shivas sons, Ganapathy and Muruga". When the children question Nandis constant praise of Lord Shiva and wonder why their mother, Parvathi Devi, is not spoken of, Nandi takes them on a fascinating journey through nine stories from the lives of Shiva and Devi.
Through these captivating episodes, the nine rasas - *Shantham (Peace), Karunyam (Compassion), Veeram (Courage), Bhayanakam (Fear), Bheebatsam (Disgust), Hasyam (Humour), Adbhutham (Wonder), Roudram (Anger) and Sringaram (Love)* - come alive through the grace, expression and power of Bharatanatyam.
From *Karpagambal of Mylapore* and Maa Annapoorna, to Mahishasuramardhini, Tripurantaka and the divine love of Shiva and Parvathi, each story reveals another dimension of the eternal "Shakthi".
With evocative storytelling, expressive abhinaya, vibrant choreography and the grandeur of a full-scale dance production, "Navarasambike" invites you to experience the Divine Mother not merely as a deity, but through the complete spectrum of human emotion.
