Prominent among the various initiatives undertaken by Citi and NCPA are two programmes: Support to Guru-shishya Tradition and Scholarships to Young Musicians. The NCPA Citi Promising Artistes Series has been launched to offer a performance opportunity to the beneficiaries of these programmes.
Dr. Anuradha Raturi (dhrupad)
A classical vocalist, Dr. Anuradha Raturi has trained in the Dagar Bani tradition of dhrupad and is also a musicologist and an eminent folk artiste from the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. A disciple of Ritwik Sanyal, she has also trained under him as part of the NCPA Citi Support to Guru-shishya Tradition.
Dr. Raturi has completed her PhD from Banaras Hindu University on the Synergy of Sounds: An Analytical Study with Special Reference to Indian Classical Music where she explores the relationship between the science and philosophy of sound and the expressive dimensions of Indian classical music. She was awarded the Junior Fellowship in Hindustani Vocal Music by the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training, and is also a recipient of the UGC Junior Research Fellowship and the Devbhumi Pratibha Puraskar.
Currently, she is a fellow at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study in Shimla and also serves as the programme director of Kala-Prakash in Varanasi.

Shridhar Bhat's introduction to music was through the musical atmosphere in his family and his village in coastal Karnataka, known for the celebration of traditional folk forms of abhang and bhajan. Currently, he is learning the harmonium under the tutelage of Sudhir Nayak and gaining experience to also present the harmonium as a solo instrument beyond an accompanying one. Bhat also teaches music in various institutions and is actively involved in developing a uniform syllabus for students seeking to learn the harmonium in the US and other countries under the guidance of senior disciples of Tulsidas Borkar and Kedar Naphade.
Bhat is also a graded artiste of All India Radio and is involved in a movement for the arts called Kala Coast.
