About The Event
Kathak begins in the feet and ends in the eyes. Come and watch it happen.
NeeRav Arts Village presents an evening of Kathak with Nikita Singh, dancer, choreographer and educator, on an open-air stage under the sky.
The evening moves through the vocabulary of the form: the crisp mathematics of tatkar footwork, the blur of the chakkar, and the stillness of abhinaya, where a single gesture carries a whole story.
Nikita trained under Smt. Juthika Dey and Guru Samiksha Sharma Arun of Kathak Kendra, New Delhi, and now studies the Jaipur gharana under Guru Rajendra Gangani, one of its most celebrated exponents. She holds an M.A. in Kathak from Raja Mansingh Tomar Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya, Gwalior, received the Ministry of Culture's Young Artist Scholarship, and is a B-Grade artist with Prasar Bharati, Doordarshan. As a cultural representative at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Centre for Indian Culture in Tashkent, she has carried Indian classical dance across Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, performing for the Indian Embassy, at UN Day and Republic Day celebrations, and alongside Padma Bhushan Shri Kailash Kher.
NeeRav Arts Village is an arts and cultural space near Bidadi: a farm, a lake, a stretch of forest, and a stage built for exactly this. The grounds are quiet, the kitchen is satvik, and the campus is alcohol-free.
