DHARA - WHERE HOPE ENDURES

What happens when hope becomes the only thing standing between life and despair

Dhara - Where Hope Endures is an evocative dance production inspired by O. Henry's timeless short story 'The Last Leaf', reimagined through the language of movement, music and theatre. Set against the struggles of an ever-changing world, the production explores friendship, compassion, resilience and the quiet power of human connection. As stories of love, loss, inequality, dreams and hope unfold on stage, Dhara reminds us that sometimes, the smallest act of kindness can become someone's reason to hold on.

From the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, we have chosen four: No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Good Health and Well-Being and Reduced Inequalities.

We chose them because they speak to the very foundations of survival and hope.

No Poverty, because a person cannot dream when survival itself is a struggle.

Zero Hunger, because hope cannot grow where there is not enough to eat.

Good Health and Well-Being, because Johnsy's fight to live lies at the heart of the original story. And Reduced Inequalities, because every person deserves the same opportunity to live, to create and to hope. In The Last Leaf, one leaf becomes a reason for one person to hold on.

In Dhara, that hope belongs to many. Presented by the Kristu Jayanti Dance Academy, this production brings together 66 young performers in a vibrant fusion of storytelling, dance, music, visual artistry and technology. Come experience a story where every movement has a meaning, every moment carries a message, and even in the darkest of times, hope endures.
