About The Event
Step into the vibrant world of Phad, a centuries-old Indian folk art form that tells its stories through intricate, hand-painted scrolls. Passed down through generations, Phad remains a living tradition, one that carries forward the cultural heritage of Rajasthan. This workshop gives you a rare chance to learn the craft directly from an expert, in the warmth of a home studio rather than a classroom.
The session is led by a seasoned artist who has spent years both practising and teaching intricate art forms. Held in her cozy home studio, it is designed to feel personal and enriching for each participant. Whether you are an art enthusiast, someone who loves culture, or simply looking for a creative escape, this workshop offers a way into the tradition of storytelling through art.
This is not your typical workshop, either. We keep it small and hold it in a home studio, so it feels less like a class and more like sitting down with people who share your interest. You will get real, one-on-one time with the instructor, plenty of room to ask questions, and honestly, it tends to feel less like a "session" and more like spending an afternoon with a small creative family.
This workshop is open to everyone, from complete beginners to seasoned artists looking to try something new. All materials are provided, so all you really need to bring is curiosity.
Why Phad Art?
Phad is more than painting. It is a narrative tradition, one that weaves together mythology, folklore, and history into a single visual epic, often telling the story of local deities or historical events. The bold, earthy colours and fine detailing make each piece a small masterpiece in its own right. Learning Phad means picking up a rare skill, but it also means stepping into a legacy that keeps a piece of India's cultural heritage alive.
