About The Event
Ramayan is an eternal epic whose influence runs deep in the Indian ethos and has captured the attention of the world. Lord Ram and his life remain inseparable from Indian culture. For thousands of years, the epic has been retold in countless forms, languages, and art styles.
Seventy years ago, renowned Marathi poet Shri G. D. Madgulkar wrote Ramayan in poetic form as Geet Ramayan, composed by Shri Sudhir Phadke and broadcast on All India Radio. So profound was its impact that listening to Geet Ramayan became a cherished ritual in Marathi households, a tradition that continues even today.
This immortal work has been liberally transliterated into Hindi as Sangeet Ramayan by Shri Sunil Deshpande, and set to music by Vidushi Smt. Asha Khadilkar. Shri Sunil Deshpande is a distinguished poet with a rich body of work to his credit, while Smt. Asha Khadilkar has been a celebrated and respected figure in Indian classical music for over six decades.
Every song in Sangeet Ramayan is set in a classical raga, giving each piece a distinct emotional and musical flavour. The stage presentation is enriched with classical dance performances and large-screen imagery from Lord Ram's life, making it a complete audiovisual offering for audiences.
