
Short Film Screenings
Many wonderful short films are being made in India. Filmmakers are at work in their own regions, devising bold, new ways to experiment with form and technique. Short Film Corner hopes to be a showcase for these films and open a dialogue between the filmmakers and their audiences.
Bujgavne
Konkani with English Subtitles (15 minutes)
Ganesh, a quiet farmer in a remote Goan village, lives a simple life tending the land he calls home. His world shifts when the farm owner, Dattaraj, arrives with devastating news: the land has been sold to a builder to fund his brother's medical treatment. Unable to stop the sale, Ganesh spirals. A failed call to his wife, a bitter clash with his brother Raghu during a family gathering, and a public humiliation push him further into isolation. The next day, Ganesh disappears into the fields. As night falls, Dattaraj learns of the fallout between the brothers, and he and Raghu set out to search for him, before it is too late.

Shera
Kumaoni with English Subtitles (19 minutes 47 seconds)
When 11 year old Monu's parents decide to migrate from their remote Himalayan village to the city; he realizes that he may never be able to see Shera, the elusive leopard that lives in the forests around his village. Everyone in the village seems to have seen him but Monu. As the day of departure nears, Monu grows despondent but his best friend Raju is determined to give him the best parting gift he can think of.

Jatin, a 12-year-old boy from a small Maharashtrian village, idolizes Shah Rukh Khan and dreams of styling his hair like the superstar. After saving money through quirky little schemes, he finally gets the haircut he has always wanted. But when he returns home, he learns that his father has died. As funeral rituals demand he shave his head, Jatin clings stubbornly to his new Bollywood look, turning his innocent wish into a quiet struggle between grief, faith, and self-expression.
