Are you an aspiring actor looking to develop your craft? Enrol in Asmita Theatre Groups intensive 8 week acting workshop designed to build strong foundations in performance and stagecraft.


This comprehensive production-oriented workshop covers essential aspects of acting, including Basic acting techniques, Characterisation and scene work, Improvisation and storytelling, Voice and speech training, Body movement and stage presence.

About the Director


Arvind Gaur Indian theater director known for his work in socially and politically relevant theatre. Arvind Gaur`s plays are contemporary. Wider socio-political issues communalism casteism feudalism domestic violence crimes of the state power politics violence injustice social-discrimination gender and racism are major themes of his theatre. Gaur is an actor trainer social worker and a good story teller. He has also performed hundreds of street plays for people struggling for many social movements. Arvind Gaur was also awarded Junior Research Fellowship by the Ministry of Human Resource Development in 1997-98. He was also visiting faculty at Delhi University for the Theater in Education program for three years.


Arvind Gaur has participated in major theater festivals of India and abroad. He has also performed plays in many cities of America including Chicago Boston Washington Harvard University Houston Los Angeles Smithsonian Museum Australia Europe Russia United Arab Emirates Armenia France and Edinburgh Festival.


Prominent among his students are Deepak Dobriyal Kangana Ranaut Manu Rishi Chadha Sonam Kapoor Aishwarya Nidhi Tillotama Shome Sheena Chohan Bajrang Bali Singh Vipul Vig (director of Rahu Ketu and known for Fukrey) Seema Azmi Ishwak Singh Susan Brar Shakti Anand Imran Zahid Ashish Bisht Shilpa Shukla (Chak De! India) Saveree Sri Gaur(Bhor film fame) Jamini Kumar (Tughlaq) and many others.

Prominent social activists and actors such as Mallika Sarabhai Piyush Mishra Lushin Dubey Ruth Sheard and Bubbles Sabharwal have also worked with Arvind Gaur in various theatrical productions.


He has organized drama workshops in various colleges institutes schools universities. He also organizes drama workshops for children. Arvind has directed hundreds of street plays as well as more than hundreds stage plays on various social and political issues in three decades.

Arvind Gaur has directed a diverse range of acclaimed Indian and international plays. His major productions include Court Martial Final Solutions Andha Yug Adhe Adhure Tughlaq Hanoosh The Good Person of Szechwan Ashadh Ka Ek Din The Caucasian Chalk Circle Julius Caesar The Merchant of Venice Waiting for Godot Caligula Ambedkar Aur Gandhi Accidental Death of an Anarchist The Crucible Kabira Khada Bazaar Mein Desire Under the Elms Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya Woh Jamyai Nai Oedipus Untitled Solo Arunas Story The Exception and the Rule Ek Mamuli Aadmi Yeh Aadmi Yeh Chuhe Rakt Kalyan (Tale-Danda) 30 Days in September Jaloos Tara and Ghashiram Kotwal among many others.


For over three decades Gaur has also been deeply involved in street theatre directing and performing hundreds of plays in public spaces. Productions such as Dastak Mard Aajivika Interfaith Pehchaan Corruption and Old Age address issues including communal harmony caste unemployment corruption gender violence child rights education and social injustice.

Arvind Gaur also designed the back stage and lighting system for the major plays of Padmashree Habib Tanveer`s Naya Theatre Agra Bazaar Charandas Chor.

He also worked as a culture columnist in Navbharat Times newspaper for about four years and as a freelance journalist in national newspapers like Jansata and Hindustan. Gaur worked at the Press Trust of India (PTI-TV) for two years


Nukkad Par Dastak published by Vani Prakashan is his famous book. Four editions of this book written by Arvind Gaur have been published. Arvind Gaur has also acted in several films including Raanjhanaa Gurgaon J.D. and Emergency.
