About The Event
TEEN PRAHAR a unique musical experience
Celebrating the Time Theory of Raagas
From the Bhakti fuelled moods of the morning to the contemplative melodies of dusk Teen Prahar is a day long festival celebrating the Time Theory of Raagas a characteristic feature of Indian Classical Music
After an 18 year journey celebrating Indias rich musical traditions Teen Prahar arrives in Chennai for the very first time
Conceived by Banyan Tree Events in 2006 Teen Prahar began as a thematic festival showcasing ragas associated with three different time zones of the day in a single concert Built on the tradition of dividing the day into prahars each with its own ragas suited to its mood and hour the festival has evolved into a larger celebration of Indian Classical Music bringing together great maestros young prodigies and upcoming star performers on one stage
Over the years Teen Prahar has also showcased rare instruments such as the Sarangi Sur Bahar Clarinet and Cello alongside traditional art forms such as Haveli Sangeet and Dhrupad The festival has brought together artists and art forms in beautiful never before seen combinations and ensembles
We invite audiences in Chennai to join us for this special presentation of Teen Prahar and experience the richness and diversity of Indias musical traditions
