About The Event

A morning of sufi poetry, song and reflection

Sufism is a centuries-old mystical tradition centred around a direct relationship between the seeker and the Divine, and a journey inward through love, devotion and self-inquiry. Across regions, languages and cultures, Sufi poets have used this path to question the ego, social hierarchies and the ways we understand ourselves and the world.

In this morning workshop, we will enter a Sufi poem through listening, singing and reflection.

We will begin with gentle breath and vocal practices, reconnecting with the singing voice that lives in all of us, even if we have lost touch with it over the years. We will then learn a song together, line by line.

Through translation, stories and conversation, we will reflect on what these centuries-old words might mean in our own lives today. There will also be space to journal, share, or simply stay with our innermost selves.

No prior experience with singing, music or Sufi poetry is needed. Whether you sing regularly or haven`t sung in years, this is an invitation to find your way back to your voice and discover what the song opens within you.

About the Artist

Anahita is a singer and a student of the Sufi and Bhakti traditions. She engages with this timeless poetry through deep listening, singing, and an ongoing journey of understanding the self. She sings the works of mystics such as Amir Khusro, Rumi, Bulleh Shah, Kabir, Lal Ded, Ghulam Farid, Mirabai and others, moving across languages including Hindustani, Punjabi, Farsi, Kashmiri, Marwari and more. She approaches these songs not simply as compositions to be performed, but as friends and guides, opening portals into love, surrender and the knowing of oneself. A crucial part of her practice is making these songs accessible to others through singing circles, workshops and intimate performances, creating spaces where conversations can unfold and these words can be passed down with ease and love.
