About The Event
Saint Kabir and Saint Tukaram came from different regions and followed different paths of spirituality. One believed in the worship of a deity through Sagun Bhakti, while the other found joy in the formless divine through Nirgun Bhakti. One saw the beauty of Lord Vithoba and expressed his philosophy of life, while the other perceived the world as an illusion and alerted the common man to the hard realities of life.
One stood by the banks of the Indrayani River, while the other stood by the banks of the Ganges. Despite their differences, they shared a deep connection. Both were engaged in trades, one as a wani (trader) and the other as a weaver, yet their love for spirituality surpassed their professions. One saw every customer as a form of Vithoba, while the other perceived the essence of the divine in every thread.
Though their languages differed, their thoughts shared the same spiritual longing. Kabir and Tukaram continue to impart timeless philosophies that resonate with people across generations. This programme brings together the teachings of these two saints through the singing of their Abhangas and Bhajans.
Jayateerth Mevundi will perform selected Abhangwani of Sant Tukaram, while Bhuvanesh Komkali will present selected Kabir Bhajans, known as Kabirwani. Dr. Dhanashree Lele will engage with the audience as the content narrator. The event is conceptualised by Mr. Shashi Vyas, Founder Director of Pancham Nishad.
