About The Event
Uttar Dakshin enters its 15th season with a concert that captures the very idea on which the series was founded. A respectful, high-energy conversation between the Hindustani and Carnatic traditions, presented by masters who speak this shared musical language with authority and imagination.
The evening brings together the majestic vocal artistry of Pt. Jayateerth Mevundi, whose expansive raga development, powerful taans, and deep emotional grounding have made him one of the most compelling voices on today’s classical stage. His music unfolds with gravitas and intensity, drawing listeners into a complete raga experience.
Engaging in a seamless jugalbandi is Vid. Shashank Subramanyam, a flautist of extraordinary finesse and imagination. With unmatched breath control, rhythmic brilliance, and lyrical clarity, Shashank brings a vibrant Carnatic response that both complements and challenges the vocal form, creating moments of thrill and surprise.
Strengthening this musical dialogue are two accomplished percussionists who deeply understand the spirit of Uttar Dakshin. Vid. Satish Patri provides rhythmic depth and Carnatic precision on the mridangam, while V. Narhari on the tabla adds balance, sensitivity, and drive from the Hindustani side.
This 15th season concert is not just a performance. It is a celebration of unity through music, where voice, flute, and rhythm come together to create a powerful and unforgettable Uttar Dakshin experience.
