A Cultural Talk by Sonia Shirsat
India's renowned professional fadista (fado singer) Sonia Shirsat, referred to as the 'Ambassador of Portuguese music to India', will be presenting a cultural talk on the story of fado, the soulful, melancholic traditional music of Portugal. The talk highlights how fado became the voice of the people on the streets of Lisbon, telling stories of fate, love and longing, and how fado is traditionally sung: by a soloist and accompanied by Portuguese guitars.
