Join us for an inspiring two-day Contemporary Dance & Partnering Workshop with internationally acclaimed artists Girish Kumar Rachappa and Ingjerd Solheim at Play Practice Artists Residency, Bangalore.
This intensive weekend is designed for dancers and movement practitioners who wish to deepen their contemporary dance practice while exploring the art of partnering through shared weight, balance, trust, and momentum. The workshop combines contemporary dance technique, floor work, improvisation, and partnering, offering participants the opportunity to develop greater body awareness, strength, mobility, creativity, and confidence in movement.
Girish's teaching draws inspiration from Kalaripayattu, Mari Kunitha, yoga, and contemporary floor work, focusing on breath, flow, spirals, weight shifts, and efficient movement pathways.
Ingjerd's classes emphasize fluidity, musicality, floor work, improvisation, and dynamic movement phrases that encourage curiosity, creativity, and expressive movement.
Together, they will guide participants through an immersive partnering practice inspired by contemporary dance, contact improvisation, partner acrobatics, and circus techniques.
Participants will explore lifts, suspensions, inversions, counterbalance, alignment, leading and following, and the roles of both flyer and base.Throughout the weekend, participants will build trust, discover new ways of moving together, and experience the unique possibilities that collaboration creates.
