About the movie
Set in the coastal village of Rajnagar, 1999 explores the lives of diverse villagers through the lens of Nidhi, an old man struggling with poverty, a broken family, and a troubled son. After a devastating super cyclone hits the region, Nidhi goes missing and is presumed dead. His son claims government compensation and squanders it, only for Nidhi to unexpectedly return, alive but suffering from memory loss. As the truth threatens to send the son to jail, he flees, leaving behind a deeper tragedy. Nidhi is later found dead, and only his wife Mala, knows the heartbreaking truth. Bound by love and silence, she takes an extreme step to protect her son, forever concealing the true story behind her husband`s death.
