About the movie

Bobby (1973), directed by Raj Kapoor, is a landmark film in Indian cinema that revolutionized the portrayal of youthful romance on screen. The film tells the story of Raj Nath (Rishi Kapoor) and Bobby Braganza (Dimple Kapadia), two teenagers from different social and economic backgrounds who fall in love. Raj is the son of a rich Hindu businessman while Bobby is the daughter of a Goan Christian fisherman. Bobby`s parents have no objections to the relationship, but Raj`s father is dead set against the idea of his son being with the daughter of a poor fisherman. Matters turn sour when Raj`s father insults Bobby`s father. After several dramatic twists and turns which includes an attempted suicide bid by the young lovers, all`s well that ends well as both families reconcile and give their blessings to the young couple.
