About the movie
Gora is based on the novel written by Tagore in 1910. The backdrop of this film is the British period. Gora the protagonist, is a person who loves his motherland, is a staunch Hindu and to some extent superstitious. He adheres to the system of caste discrimination. Gradually, Gora reorients his thought process and gives up all his orthodox beliefs and prejudices and false pride in Hinduism. He discovers the true spirit of religion and nationalism. How he challenges the deeply embedded social structure and Hinduism forms the crux of the story.
