About the movie
When Ratnapuri's king passes away without naming a successor, the imperial council of the kingdom unanimously vote for Marthandan to be their next ruler. On the day of his coronation Marthandan survives an assassination attempt, but is hurt and unconscious. A vagabond revolutionary, Veerangan, fighting for a democratic kingdom, also happens to be a doppelganger to Marthanda. He finds himself thrust with the reigns of the kingdom. But he gets more than he bargained for, when Marthanda goes missing and he is expected to continue playing the king, while trying to get back the actual king on the throne.
