Verdict: Vikram Prabhu lights up the screen as a fireman! Neruppuda immediately reminds you of the song from Kabali, doesn`t it? Neruppuda is a movie directed by the debutant B. Ashok Kumar. The movie focuses on five youngsters who aspire to become firemen and save lives. It stars Vikram Prabhu and Nikki Galrani in the []... ...Read full review
Neruppuda has five friends bound by their passion. Right from childhood, Guru (Vikram Prabhu, who does a good job as an earnest youngster) and his friends` ambition is to become firemen, and save people during fire accidents. They even have their own fire engine. Guru also has a romantic track, with Vasumathi (Nikki Galrani), the daughter of a senior fireman who the friends look up to, but this is entirely functional and adds to nothing other than the length of the film (a duet that pops up in the second half is, especially, so out of place). ...Read full review
Vikram Prabhu the heir apparent to the legacy of Sivaji Ganesan undoubtedly possesses the talents and the screen presence. Part of me expected a bit of variety this time as Vikram Prabhu also makes his debuts as a producer. ...Read full review
In the opening scenes, Ashok Kumars Neruppu Da (Fire!) lives up to that title. A carelessly tossed matchstick results in a blaze that begins to consume several houses. Guru (Vikram Prabhu) and his four friends - as children, they vowed to become firefighters - jump into a fire engine, reach the disaster site and begin rescue operations. There is, inevitably, a trapped child, and the hero, inevitably, performs a dashing save. A cop asks him later, why he put his life at risk. Guru replies, You have to risk a life to save a life. ...Read full review
Neruppuda is a story involving firemen aspirants, surprisingly it doesnt involve much about the profession. It could have happened to any five friends. In fact, even the choice of job is only the heros, the others get inspired. Neruppuda ends up being a story about a man who happens to be a fireman aspirant. He might have as well wanted to be anything else. It wouldnt have affected the core story line. ...Read full review
