About the movie
Superstar Mammootty plays Parunthu Purashu who is a heartless moneylender in Kozhikode, who humiliates debtors if they are unable to pay him back. People beg him to reconsider their loans, some even committing suicide, but he doesn't relent and continues harrassing and even thrashing those who fail to pay. He even stops the wedding celebrations of a Gujarati debtor's daughter and that's when things get more sinister. Directed by M. Padmakumar, Purunthu's main draw is Mammootty, who despite the negative shade regales the audience.
