In the pre-independence era, a village located in the midst of Thar Desert has a unique set of rituals, taboos and social ordinance that bans girls of the village to marry outside their community but the same is not applicable for the boys. However, post the India-Pakistan partition as many of the Indian villages become part of Pakistan, the traditions come to a screeching halt due as the newly formed government passes a new law, which has major repercussions on the villager's life, especially the women.
