About the movie
Adapted from Bernhard Schlink`s bestseller, The Reader features Kate Winslet who won an Academy Award for her portrayal as a Nazi officer. Set in the time of the Holocaust, the movie focusses on the perpetrator rather than on the victims. Hanna Schmitz has a passionate affair with Michael Berg, a teenager. She disappears one day to resurface 10 years later as a criminal on trial for war crimes.
