Aakash Bhaskaran, hailing from Tiruchirappalli, began his cinematic journey as an assistant director under filmmaker Vignesh Shivan, working on the film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan before establishing himself as a film producer. He founded the production banner Dawn Pictures, which has backed high-profile projects including Idli Kadai, Parasakthi, and Idhayam Murali. He is making his directorial debut with Idhayam Murali, a coming-of-age romantic drama produced under his own banner.
