Born: July 19, 1927
Abrar Alvi (Abrar) was an Indian film writer and known for his work during 1950s and 1960s. He was also associated with direction and acting. He won the Filmfare Best Director Award for the film Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam (1962), which received the 10th National Film Awards (1962) for Best Feature Film. He had worked in films like Guddu, Patthar Dil, Laila Majnu, Kaagaz Ke Phool, Pyaasa and many more. He died in November 2009.
