Regarded as one of the most influential filmmakers in the history of cinema, Akira Kurosawa has directed more than 30 films in his career spanning over 57 years. The Japanese film director, Kurosawa started his career in the film industry as an Assistant director is known for directing the several critically acclaimed films like Drunken Angel (1948), Ikiru (1952), Yojimbo Ran (1961), and Ran (1985). For his outstanding work in the film industry, the director has won several won awards and recognitions including Palme d'Or and the Academy Award for Lifetime Achievement. In 1990 AsianWeek magazine named him 'Asian of the Century' in Arts, Literature, and Culture category.
