Alka Yagnik trained in classical music from the age of 6. After taking Bollywood by storm with `Ek Do Teen` from the movie `Tezaab`, Alka Yagnik has sung 2,482 Hindi songs in 1,114 films making her the fifth most prolific playback singer in Bollywood. Whether they were iconic mainstream hits like Choli Ke Peeache and Taal or initiatives like Shikha Ki Suraj, a part of the National Literacy Mission of India, Alka Yagnik`s versatility as a singer speaks for itself.

She has won several awards such as the Filmfare Awards, National Awards, IIFA Awards, Star Screen Awards, Zee Cine Awards, etc. She also holds the record for most awards won (7) as well as maximum nominations (35) for the Filmfare Awards for Best Female Playback Singer. She has worked with the best music directors of the industry including A.R. Rahman. Even after all these years her songs continue to be a part of popular music playlists and remain to be in a league of their own.
