Amrita Pritam was an Indian lyricist and writer born on 31 August, 1919 in Gujranwala, Pakistan. She has published many famous novels and poems. Her most famous work as a writer was ‘Pinjar’ on which a hit film with the same name was made. She has won many awards including Padma Vibhushan in 2004 and Sahitya Akademi Award in 1956. She was married to Pritam Singh.
