Ananya Asok who resides in California is a renowned Vainika-vocalist in both India and the USA. At the age of 10, she was initiated to Carnatic music with Veena lessons from Lalitha Venkataraman, the former professor of Veena at the Mysore University. She then went on to learn from Srikanth Chary, who has honed her skills to make her the Vainika she is today. Noticing her aptitude for singing, her parents put her under the tutelage of P V Natarajan, father of Raji Gopalakrishnan, an eminent musician. By the time she was 18, Ananya became a disciple of the famous violinist, Anuradha Sridhar, who has been her inspiration ever since.

Music runs in Ananyas familytwo of her paternal grand-uncles, K.R. Kumaraswamy and K.R. Kedaranathan were respected music gurus and her maternal great grandmother was a disciple of Ramalinga Bhagavatar.
