Aneesh Anwar is an Indian writer and director best known for his work in Malayalam cinema. He began his career as an assistant director working on movies such as Dubai (2001), Praja (2001), Runway (2004), and Naran (2005). It was in 2012 that Aneesh made his directorial debut with the movie Mullamottum Munthiricharum. Starring Indrajit, Meghana Raj, and Ananya in lead roles, the movie opened to negative reviews at the box office. However, the director gained recognition for his next project - Zachariayude Garbhinikal (2013). Starring Lal, Rima Kallingal, Sanusha, and Geetha, the movie opened to positive reviews and was a critical and commercial hit. The movie also received 4 Kerela State Film Awards. He then directed the movie Kumbasaram (2015). In 2017, he directed the movie Basheerinte Premalekhanam starring Farhan Faasil and Sana Altaf. His 2019 release includes My Great Grandfather, directed by Aneesh Anwar.
