Indian director, screenwriter, and photographer, Aneesh Upasana made his directorial debut with the Malayalam romantic movie Matinee starring Maqbool Salmaan and Mythili, which opened to positive reviews from the audience and critics both. Following the success of his debut, he directed the Malayalam thriller Seconds in 2014. The movie, starring Jayasurya, Aparna Nair, Vinay Forrt and Vinayakan, opened to mixed reviews. He next directed the 2016 comedy-drama Popcorn, which opened to mixed, mainly negative, reviews from the audience.
