Anurupa Roy is one of India's best-known puppeteers. She heads KatKatha Puppet Arts Trust based in New Delhi. Roys productions have toured Europe, South Asia, Japan, and elsewhere across the world. She has won the Asia Pacific Performing Arts Fellowship in 2004, Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar in 2007, a grant from India Foundation for the Arts in 2010, and many other prestigious accolades from global arts institutions including the Shankar Nag Theatre award conferred by Ranga Shankara. Roys works often have a social angle as she uses puppetry to raise awareness about issues that concern us in today's day and climate.
