Known for working as an editor with popular director Priyadarshan, Arun Kumar Aravind started his movie career with the 2003 movie Vasanthamalika, directed by Vasanthamalika. He was associated with Priyadarshan`s films like Hulchul, Garam Masala, Chup Chup Ke, Bhagam Bhag, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Mere Baap Pehle Aap, Billu, De Dana Dan, and Aakrosh. He then went on to become a director with the 2010 Malayalam thriller movie Cocktail, starring Jayasurya, Anoop Menon, Samvrutha Sunil and Fahadh Faasil. His next film Ee Adutha Kaalathu, starring Indrajith Sukumaran, Murali Gopy, and Anoop Menon, went on to receive positive reviews. Revolving around the lives of six people from different strata of society connected due to unexpected incidents, the movie went on to win The IFFK 2012 - NETPAC Award for Best Malayalam Film. Arun then went on to work on the political thriller Left Right Left, which also received positive reviews and emerged a blockbuster. He once again cast Fahadh Faasil in the psychological thriller 1 by Two, which was an average hit. Arun also turned producer with the 2013 sex comedy film Vedivazhipadu. His 2017 directorial venture includes Kaattu, which stars Asif Ali, Murali Gopy, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Manasa Radhakrishnan in the lead roles. He is also the producer of the film. His 2019 release includes Under World.
