Ashok Saraf is an Indian actor who works largely in the Marathi film industry. In a career spanning over 45 years, he has acted in more than 250 Marathi films, of which 100 were silver jubilee hits. Saraf started his career with the Marathi film Janaki in 1969. He then went on to appear in films like Doni Gharacha Pahuna (1971), Jawal Ye Laju Nako (1976), Tumacha Amacha Jamala (1978), Deed Shahane (1979), and Duniya Kari Salam (1979). Ashok has also acted in Hindi films and is best known for playing Munshiji in the action thriller Karan Arjun (1995). Apart from films, he has also acted in various Marathi plays and Hindi television serials. Saraf is best known for his portrayal of Anand Mathur in the TV show Hum Paanch, the blockbuster Hindi film Singham (2011), and Marathi films Aandhali Koshimbir (2014) and Vrundavan (2016). His 2017 venture includes the Marathi comedy drama movie Shentimental, under the direction of Sameer Patil, starring Upendra Limaye, Raghuveer Yadav and Ashok Saraf in the lead roles. His other releases include Me Shivaji Park and Prawaas.
